All My Children
Okay they aren’t children, they’re works-in-progress (WIPs). And I have too many of them.
In an attempt to motivate myself to start finishing things (or, more accurately, to stop myself from starting yet more projects), I decided to catalog them.
Projects for Myself
I’m super bad at ever finishing things I’m making for myself. Who am I, after all? I don’t need things!
Vertex Vest

Vertex Vest pattern from Brooklyn Tweed
I don’t even remember when I started this. Early COVID times? I decided that my wrists could probably handle straight stocking stitch (I can’t really do cables or lace patterns with knitting anymore, because of my stupid fingers) but I didn’t anticipate how BORING that would be to make. Still, I really like the color, and the yarn. It’s from Rowan and it’s two different yarns stranded together, I forget which exactly, but between the two of them there’s a combination of mohair, silk and cashmere, I think. Which means I spent a lot of money on this yarn. It will be a really cool garment when it’s done. As far as projects for myself go, this one is my highest priority.
Grey Beanie

Another one that’s been sitting around a million years. I was doing this on two circular needles, but as I was narrowing it for the crown I think I reached a point when I needed to switch to double-points and didn’t have enough of them. It’s so close to done, and it’s also super soft and comfy so I need to finish this before next winter.
Lotus Duster

Lotus Duster pattern from Morale Fiber
This has been sitting around, 50% done, for over a year. I think this is the first thing I attempted after my mandala blanket. It’s a very cool pattern and I love the colors. Why haven’t I finished it??
Forgot-Me-Not Sweater

This one I only started a couple months ago, with the hopes that I would have it finished in time to wear this spring/early summer before it got too hot for sweaters of any kind but whoops! That didn’t happen.
Temperature Blanket

This was my first Tunisian crochet project. I misjudged the gauge terribly so even a year’s worth of rows is going to make an exceedingly short blanket and I might have to keep going for another year. This is the lowest priority of my personal projects.
Projects for Other People
Secret Surprise Project
I can’t talk about this one yet, but it’s my top priority. I need to finish it within a few weeks.
Dorm Blanket

This blanket is for my son to take to his dorm room, which he moves into at the end of August. It’s a very quick pattern—corner-to-corner half-double crochet in Bernat Blanket ombre. When I’m done with the secret project, I should be able to complete this in a couple of days.
Projects to Sell
I have an Etsy shop, which I haven’t actually listed a single piece on yet—I needed to wait until I’d be spending most of my time in one place, so that I could manage the shipping. I’d like to get it set up this fall, and I’ve got some inventory semi-ready to go.
These all have the same priority, more or less. Once I finish my two gift projects, I need to finish these bad boys.
Linen Stitch scarves and hats

The construction of these is mostly done (there are a couple other colorways I might want to add) but they need to be washed and blocked. The scarves need fringe, and the hats maybe need pompoms.
V-stitch infinity scarves and hats

Same idea.
Cotton tote

This bag needs a strap. I was going to make one, but the waistcoat stitch that would be required to keep it from stretching was absolute murder on my hands, so it’s going to get a premade strap. It also needs a lining, I think. If I were going to use it, I would want it to have a lining.
I like this pattern a lot and I plan to make more of these, in different colors, so hopefully people buy them because I only need so many bags.
Pompom Shawl
Pompom shawl pattern from Hobbi
(I forgot to take a photo of this one.) I started this mostly for fun, and because I love the colors of the yarn. They fight with each other a little more when they’re worked up. I’m not sure that this will find a home, but it’s worth a try. I might make more in the future in more harmonious colorways.
