A new blanket project sorry
Okay, here’s the situation. (My parents went away for a week’s vacation…)
I don’t think I want to continue the grief blanket.
I haven’t even gotten the second stripe done. It’s just not calling to me. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a pattern I’ve already done before (in a thicker yarn, so it went faster) or that I don’t actually want to be reminded of my grief. Or maybe I’m just tired of knitting. I’m sorry, knitting, but I have that New Relationship Energy with crochet and I need to see where this goes.
But my mandala blanket is in California, and I’m in Oregon for the next few weeks. Therefore I’m totally justified in starting a new project, right?
I’m just going to pretend the answer is yes.
I’ve been saving patterns on Reddit and Etsy. But which one do I make first? (If any of these are your designs please don’t be mad that I’m borrowing your photos!)

This stained-glass effect blanket made with variegated yarn? It’s fucking gorgeous but it also says it’s for “experienced” crocheters. Technically I am experienced. And my mandala blanket is turning out really nice so probably I have the skills for this one. But it’s made in pieces so there’s going to be a lot of joining, which annoys me.

This Crochet-Along blanket? It’s fewer pieces so I won’t have to join as much, and I could still use some variegated yarns. I’m not a fan of the colorway in this photo but I’ve seen other versions that I like.

This one (called Whatcha-ma-call-it) looks like it’s entirely constructed in the round (or square, I guess). I don’t like the original colors but I found a different version on reddit that was stunning.

This “overlay mosaic” blanket that looks like it was designed by Pendleton? I really love it but I have no idea what mosaic crochet is and I’m not sure if I’m ready to learn. I’ve done mosaic knitting before and it’s beyond my pain-in-the-ass tolerance level these days.

This rainbow swirlies one? It looks fun to do and probably pretty quick.
Based on what’s calling to me right now, it’s between the Whatcha-ma-call-it and the stained glass. But the WMCI is very similar in construction to the mandala blanket, and I think I want to change it up. Or that’s just an excuse because I really want to do the stained glass one and I’m trying to justify it to myself. All that piecing… ugh. But it’s so pretty.
So, materials are ordered and I’m anxiously awaiting their arrival so I can get started. Expect progress photos soon!
